Mark is the owner of Big Airbrush and has been painting T-shirts for more than thirty years. He got his start after seeing his icon, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth paint a few monsters on sweat shirts. Fuel that with some inspirational Big Daddy catalogs and the Airbrush fire was kindled. His dad started him out drawing on T-shirts with magic markers at age nine. It has been an evolution every day since.
Airbrush Action Magazine awarded five Vargas Awards in 2003. The five artist's each mastered the airbrush on his individual path to success. Florida's Mark Rush is most noted for inspiring generations of T-shirt artists. The annual award is named for Alberto Vargas, creator of the silky skinned "Vargas Girl" pin-ups. Past Vargas winners nominate fellow artists who they feel have achieved the highest level of excellence in the field.
